October ’24 Meeting

We would to thank Dan Barrier, Margaret Dabbs, Bob Anderson, and Jean and Bob Gantt for filling in for Elaine and Jack. We truly appreciate each member, who gives through checks or Grapevine subscriptions, to help our quarterly winner, CVAN (Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network) further their efforts in serving our community. Seeing our efforts help these non-profits do amazing things is gratifying.

Congratulations on another hour well spent supporting our community. It’s not too early to nominate a non-profit for our next cycle or suggest a new meeting location.

The quarterly meeting was held at Hellighters Mission at the Cross on Thursday, October 24 at 7 pm.

Presentations on behalf of the following organizations will be made at our meeting:

Habitat for Humanity Cabarrus County – was founded in 1989 by local churches. Through faith, innovation, and passion, and thanks to community partners, volunteers, donors, and advocates, Habitat Cabarrus has significantly impacted Cabarrus County since its founding. Guided by God, Habitat Cabarrus transforms lives and our community by uniting all around the cause of decent affordable housing for everyone. Nominated by Jeff Gallup.

CVAN ( Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network) provides safety, shelter, and support for battered women and children in Cabarrus County. Since 1982 – building a world where every home is a safe home. Nominated by Margaret and Wayne Dabbs.

Feeding Kannapolis Hunger – a totally volunteer organization that serves the food-insecure community. It began in 2017 by providing healthy weekend backpack meals to four Kannapolis elementary schools. Through partnerships with local farmers and churches FKH gleans, harvests, and shares eggs, fresh fruit, and vegetables by having drive-through free markets. They also conduct health and wellness markets at churches in Kannapolis and Concord.

The meeting started with a review of how our last donation was put to use by Wish for Wheels, followed by three presentations from members, a discussion, and a vote.
